Managing IP has shortlisted Groombridge, Wu, Baughman & Stone LLP and partners Steven Baughman and Nicholas Groombridge across five categories in its 2024 Americas Awards. The firm was shortlisted for national Firm of the Year in the IP Boutique, Life Sciences IP Litigation, and PTAB categories. Steve has been shortlisted for Practitioner of the Year (PTAB), and Nick for Litigator of the Year (NY).
The Managing IP awards are among the most widely respected IP awards in the legal sector, given in recognition of an individual’s or firm’s significant achievements over the last year.
Groombridge Wu celebrated its first anniversary in November 2023 and earlier this month was recognized as Benchmark Litigation’s Firm of the Year. In the past year, the firm has earned victories on behalf of Novo Nordisk relating to its leading diabetes and obesity drug treatments and Genentech for a breakthrough Hemophilia A treatment, among other successes.
Nick Groombridge is one of the nation’s leading trial lawyers, focusing exclusively on intellectual property litigation. Over the past 35 years, Nick has served as lead counsel in over 150 patent cases in federal district courts, tried dozens of bench and jury trials, and successfully argued more than 30 cases in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Steve Baughman is a leading practitioner in post-grant trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Steve served as counsel for four of the PTAB’s first-day filings, including the first post-grant trial to reach a final decision, which Managing IP named a “Milestone Case of the Year.” Over his first four and a half years of trials at the PTAB, Steve amassed a 47-0 record in final written decisions on behalf of challengers, while also defending key patents for patent owners, and to date he has been counsel of record in more than 200 PTAB trials.
The winners will be announced April 25 at the 2024 Managing IP Americas Award ceremony in New York.
