Before joining the firm, Chad clerked for Judge Raymond T. Chen at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and for Chief Judge Colm F. Connolly at the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
He received his J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law as a Robert McKay Scholar. In law school, Chad frequently competed in moot court competitions—receiving the National Moot Court Competition Award and reaching the regional finals in the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition—and he served as the president of the Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Society. His student note, “Fostering Innovation Through a Legislative Overhaul of Patentable Subject Matter,” received the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s George Hutchinson Award, resulting in his note being published in Volume 32 of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal. Prior to law school, Chad graduated, cum laude, with a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, where he was elected to the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. He also played on the Duke Women’s Basketball Team’s practice squad, which under NCAA rules is made up entirely of men.
